Something Fascinating About Kids
Its a rainy, Sunday afternoon and what else do I have to than watch the marathon of "Jon and Kate Plus 8?" Besides TLC, this show is just quite one of the most fascinating shows to watch. Not only are the kids adorable, it really shows me another appreciation of life. I was actually having a conversation with my mom about certain TV shows that you have to get acqauinted with. Like the Office? At first, I was like seriously..is this a show? You have to really get to know the characters. Now I'm a complete fan. Same with Jon and Kate Plus 8. You never know what's going to go down w/ this show. What adventure will they take on next? What comments or reactions w/ Kate mention on the show? Its fun to watch other people, watch other kids. Just the fun part to actually work with those kids. Of course, playing and watching the kids in real life would top watching the show anyday...

Its Raining on a Sunday
This title is entirely true. On Sunday, April 5 (Palm Sunday), since noon has been raining cats and dogs. I tell ya, its been a while since I've blogged. I've been busy tweeting and facebooking. Keeping up w/ all the technology and attempting to be tech savvy is challenging but well worth it! The cool thing about tweeting is it keeps you connected 24/7..yet you can choose to not follow people. I actually follow Heidi Montag from the Hills. Her tweets are awesome..very positive way of thinking. I learned not to follow w/ updates for CNN. You will end up having updates every .5 seconds. Breaking News: flock of geese fly into DisneyWorld!!! or Chef Boyardi dies.no I dunno if he did. SOrry CNN'rs :)
Can you believe we've already started the first week of April? Goodness where has the time gone? I'd like to think I've been pretty productive with it. Traveling for work and keeping up w/ church has consumed me...in a nice way. I finished the Alpha Course at Northview..loved it. Really love that program and really helped me through my journey of faith. I've also met some pretty cool people along the way..through Alpha, just random instances etc!
I've also been pretty intense at going to the gym alot. Sometimes I feel I get a little obsessed about it. Especially when I get up at 5:45 in the morning to brew coffee and then workout at 6:15-20 in the morning! Sometimes I need that kick in the morning and feel great the rest of the day! There are days when I work out in the morning and feel like the day doesn't ever end lol. Oh well! Days can't always feel like you're on the top of the world, right? Or should it? Tomororw I'm going to take my first cycle class...I'm hoping I'll be able to keep up pretty good. This should also be good for my knee and endurance. If anything, the music rocks!
This week I will be prepping msyelf for the conference I'll be attending next week in Atlanta. Other than that, attending meetings, Giving Sum meetings, and others. I'm also psyched for the Easter church service at Northview Christian Life Church! Go to www.nvcl.org and join us on Sat or Sun!
Okay, time to play some buzztime!!!

Podcast Nerd
Have you ever thought about how you could cram lots of information in your brain in a small amount of time? Besides cramming for like exams etc, I thought about subscribing to more podcasts on itunes. Man, the variety of podcasts available! Since I am really fascinated in dating and relationships, I've subscribed to Just for Women: Dating, Relationships and Sex with Alissa Kriteman. I thought at first, hmm yet another femenist who wants to take her speal on men etc. To my surprise, this podcast was quite the opposite. Alissa has been really great at probing deeply into women's issues. Alissa brings in great guests like the guy who created Cuddle Parties (didn't even know they existed LOL). Idk, its sometimes nice to have a guys perspective on dating and relationships etc.
I have also found "NPR: Wait..Wait..Don't Tell Me" to be amazingly funny. I was actually in the Tulsa International Airport flying back to Indy and was LMAO. People around me were probably wondering, "what's going on w/ this girl?" It was just something histerical and needed to have a great laugh. So if you're ever down, you should take a listen to NPR or any of NPR's podcasts...I love em!
Podcasts are so great..you can learn a different language or even learn how to cook! Besides listening to relationships and comedy, I'm trying to keep up on the policitcs and today's issues..what a great tool to keep in tuned! So you'll probably see me listen to my ipod, not music, but podcasts..I'll find myself to be at least more intelligent:).

Five Languages of Love
So the singles 20something life group I'm in are currently going through the "Five Languages of Love." Do you know what they are? Well I'll tell you what they are in no particular order:
1). Words of Affirmation
2). Quality Time
3). Receiving Gifts
4). Acts of Service
5). Physical Touch
Basically you take a quiz, like any other personality test etc and your highest score is the sign you associate most with. Believe it or not, my highest score was a 10-Quality Time with second highest- 8 Physical Touch. I'm actually kind of surprised physical touch came in second..Anyways this is really cool..I've never really thought much into the different languages of love and how people are loved..For example, if "Brett" was dating "Brenda" and he was telling her all the time that he loved her and how pretty she looked but didn't think much of it. It could quite possibly her love language was not words of affirmation but something else..Once you begin to realize your partners' love language, you are starting to realize how they tick. The more you practice, I assume the better your relationship gets..Who knows?!
Another section in this book are the two stages of love : Obsessive Love and Covenant Stage. Obsessive is exactly as is..that "I can't live without you!"...or he's so perfect...blah blah blah..Its so easy to fall into this category. Once you begin to understand each other and your stages, then you apparently move onto the second stage..if you last..Covenant meaning you're taking the time and investing your life together. If you make it to this stage, you're in good shape, I think! Its quite interesting reading these stories etc..thinking back how I was always in the very "obsessive" stages of love..never getting past it. I never stopped to think about when the world stops and my life doesn't revolve just around "him." Covenant love is conscious love. It is a commitment to no matter what.. So we'll see how the rest of these upcoming readings will go :)!

The End of February
Wow so it seems like it has been forever since I've written anything on here!
Why not start now? February has been busy yet somewhat slump time. Since February, I have been taking the course called Alpha Course, a course provided by my church to really get back to the basics about God. I love it. Not only are the dinners spectacular but the video clips and small group setting is amazing. We have our Alpha Overnight this weekend in Harvest City, IN this weekend. I am pretty ecstatic. My journey through faith has been incredible but am so excited that I am growing stronger and learning more.
I feel as if every person I talk to is sick of this winter and hoping for spring to arrive! My outlook on life has been different lately. Yes, I feel like the weather is blah..but I mean being from Minnesota, I'm used to well..winter from October until well sometimes April lol. Lately my outlook on life has been different, a different perspective and very positive. I have been trying very hard at focusing what my personal goals as well as my professional goals. I'm going through this 14 day podcast called, "Just Say Yes." 14 days of committing yourself of your goals for this year and improving yourself. It has really helped me with my priorities. I am continuing my training program at my fitness club and trying to establish a healthy lifestyle. I am trying to find my faith again and find friends along the way. I am so excited to be involved with the organization, Giving Sum..cannot wait..

Meeting famous people on Halloween..
Adapting to changes
Bundled up and all ready to go! Wait, its still 40-50 degree weather here in Indy! I was actually excited for some cold weather we had a few weeks ago. However I do think that having the lack of sunlight has taken a toll on me. I'm perhaps thinking of getting an incubator into my cube so "artificial" sunlight can come into my world. I actually did see sunlight for a few hours last Thursday. Needless to say, it "brightened" my day! I will compensate for the mild weather. I think my body will thank me later for the warmer weather..
Btw- this is a pic of the circle downtown during convention...ahh the smell of crisp fresh air!
It amazes me how time flies. Here I am already two months or so into living a new life, a new job. Yet I'm still adjusting. I know it will take months still. Everyday, every week gets better. I know I have to be social and I really am. Sometimes I just get so focused at work or at home and become a hermit. I do love accomplishing a task, a goal, and moving forward. '
Something that I've been trying to get back into is attending church. I've been going to an independent non-denominational church in Carmel, IN. Needless to say, its awesome! I've been attending their connections classes-classes that give a detailed background of the church missions, meet the pastors, have a dinner w/ the lead paster and wife. Its pretty cool. I'm learning alot and getting me aquainted with activities. I will join a lifegroup-Bible study on Sunday evenings with mid 20s co-ed. I'm pretty excited for that. Trying out for the vocal team-wow their team is awesome...At least I'll try! Something to keep me being positive...
Only a week and a half until Thanksgiving!! Back to Minnesota for a week!!! I'm getting way too excited for this!

Big steps
When I returend home from convention, I completely passed out until 9 o'clock in the morning. I thought..what am I going to do today? I knew I didn't want to do any laundry until Monday. Save the lil things for last..I know. I really wanted to attend a church I attended back in early Setpember when I first moved to Indy. The church is called Northview Christian Life Church in Carmel, IN. Its about 15-20 minutes away from my place.
I have been church hopping earlier this fall...I definitely participated in some "interesting" worships but good to get a different perspective of the church. This church is so awesome...awesome worship, live music and really talented musicians. I really like the pastor, Steve Poe. He has messages that really relate to the present. He mentioned that last weekend the entire church packed up and left the church to do outreach work. Basically the members came to the church, got in their life groups, and were seprated to go to various "lower income" sites throughout the Indianapolis area. People were able to help various places with trash pickup, restoring apartments, raking leaves etc....It was very moving seeing what they've done this past weekend. I wish I would've know about it. I did this with the Orientation Leaders a few years ago...basically the same concept. In the end, lots of fun and you really feel good about yourselves..helping others and giving back to those less fortunate.
Then the band played the song, "Time of your life" by David Cook. Not only do I love that song, but it was quite motivating......
Northview Christian Life Church's campaign this fall is called "Life on Loan" There were potatoe bags on the back of each seat. It stated on one side, Every seat tells a story" and "How have you loved today?" There are three postcards that allows you to share your story with the congregation. The church will let the members know when to bring your postcard and post it on the wall. The cards kind of go in season..christmas card and then spring. This should be a good reminder for that...
After church, I went into the Capstone Bookstore and coffee shop. I found myself looking at Bibles..which is something I never thought I'd do. I found myself a Bible that I could actually understand and also got this book called Boundaries. A book of personal property lines that define who you are and who you are not, and influence all areas of your life...I'm excited to read it..... random thought...I just downloaded some songs of the christian band, 33 Miles..kinda like a Christian Rascal Flatts band...they're awesome....

The other side of things..
It has been three years since I've attended National FFA Convention. My last convention was competing quiz bowl at ATA Conclave and promoting the U of M at the career show. To tell you the truth, I was probably just as blown away being in Indy downtown as a first FFA Member attendee! My heart just pumped with excitement as I see old friends and see the faces of FFA members.
Being fairly new to Indianapolis and downtown, I felt like a lost puppy not finding its way back to its mother. When we got to the Indianapolis Convention Center (ICC), we unloaded my car and I drove back to park in the Hilton hotel. Trying to find the stupid parking lot was more difficult than I thought. I found msyelf going in circles and trying to find the place. Finally I found my way back to the hotel and asked the bell hops. Once I found it, I screamed with joy. Right then and there, I tried to use the observation skills I have.
Our set up was fairly simple and quick. I quickly learned how difficult/"FUN" it is to set up my booth. Once its set up, it looks awesome....I was able to meet up with some U of M'ers at Claddaugh..it was soo good to see them!! Made me realize how much I miss everybody there.
I used convention to my advantage and met as many members that I could for the Consortium. It was nice to put a face to the name...definietely a visual person. I didn't get to visit with everyone but tried to meet as many as I could. Instead of being a hermit, I ate lunch right in the cafe. I was able to meet a few good advisors/students..Good to see their perspectives of convention and views of the convention site.
I keep telling myself that this position that I am in will push me..It has and continues to. Each day gets better but some days are worse than others..I continue to tell myself that rome wasn't built in a day. I know it wasn't..and I know I can't work miracles in a day. By random, I ran into one of my high school FFA Advisors, Mr. Voss. It was soo good to see him! Mr. Voss and Ms. Bidne have been such an inspritation and motivation for what I've done. He told me, "I'm so proud of you and you are such a good kid." Hearing that from him made my day. He told me to "take baby steps." Take one mountain at a time, which is my goal to do. I am just having a positive attitude and working towards our goals.
Wow...so convention was almost over..done w/ our events...my first convention done! I tell ya, no matter how many conventions I attend, I always tear up at the parents recognition and retiring officers...emotional in every way....I thought convention went well..glad its over...but had fun along the way..hopefully will try to recoop for a bit before I back into the daily grind...
